Lyveden New Bield

Constructed for Sir Thomas Tresham circa 1595-1605 the building was never completed due to his death. It is now owned by the Nation Trust. Designed on a plan reminiscent of a Greek gross, the facades have a strict symmetry. The exterior is decorated by friezes of  a religious nature. The Elizabethan gardens include grass paths viewing mounts and moats.

Entry cost: Free to National Trust members

Useful info: Parking is 100 yards from the entrance to the grounds. Cafe, shop and toilets are available.
