Bradgate Park, Leicestershire
Bradgate Park was first enclosed as a deer park around 800 years ago in 830 acres of countryside close to Leicester City Centre. Deer roam freely throughout the park.
Bradgate House was one of the earliest brick-built country houses in England, and childhood home of Lady Jane Grey, Queen of England for Nine Days in 1553.
The Park offers a wild and rugged landscape with dramatic rocky outcrops and gnarled old oak trees, many of which are well over 500 years old with fantastic views over Leicestershire.
There are tearooms situated in the centre of the Park (Deer Barn) and an excellent and very interesting informative Visitors Centre.

Useful info: Car parks at Newtown Linford (LE6 0HB), Hallgates (LE7 7HQ) and Hunts Hill (LE6 0AH). Newtown Linford has an area reserved for Blue Badge holders and there are designated ‘Disabled’ spaces at Hallgates. Car parking charges apply – was £3 per day on my last visit. Car Parks are closed at dusk. Toilets close earlier than car parks – the last car park and toilets to be locked is Newtown Linford. Public toilets at all three main car parks and also at the Deer Barn buildings. All have wheelchair-accessible toilet facilities.
